The Land of the Long White Cloud - a talk by Mike Frost

 

In March 1988, on my way home from working in Australia, I spent two weeks touring the South Island of New Zealand. What an extraordinary country!

 

I had wanted to return to New Zealand/Aotearoa ever since, and as soon as I retired, I planned a visit there.

 

This is the story of my tour of the North Island of New Zealand, "The Land of the Long White Cloud", including many of the astronomical sites I visited there.

 

And a small diversion on the way home. I picked the wrong night to travel back to England, war broke out in the Middle East, and I was stranded in Brunei.
